Twitter Rethink Jul 2, 2009 |
I am to the point where Twitter has become a mess. I have too many people that I follow. I am missing my friends. I am not in the conversation. It kills me to not be in the conversation to miss out what is going on in Columbus. A while back someone suggested to do Groups on TweetDeck to manage what I would say are my original friends on Twitter and those who have become friends. I resisted because I thought that I could manage. With following 1500 + people, I kept falling behind. I felt that I was only taking and not giving to the community. So, I gave in I created a group and went back and found the people I had great conversations with from the beginning. What a difference this had made. I'm back in the game giving instead of taking and providing interesting content and conversation. Once Twitter became a mechanized tool for me, I lost the connection I had with the people. As Twitter has become spontaneous again for me, I'm back in the conversation and contributing to this unique community. I need remember - Twitter is the art of conversation online not the art of tweeting for the sake of tweeting.
