Jobs Driving Home Sales

Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist of the National Association of Realtors®, has said that new/more jobs are in need to drive home sales.  It is a call for businesses to take the reins and stimulate the economy.  So what is the stall to seeing this emergence of new/more jobs?  According to Yun’s article, “uncertainties about the economy and the new federal policies that affect businesses” is causing the stall.

What can we do to assist in driving a more stable economy this election season and bring back the housing market?  Take a look at the candidates and what they support.  Be critical of the campaign and the issues that candidates take a stand on.  I really believe it is vitally important to know what is needed to get us going in the right direction for the economy.

My Rebranding Project

The Ohio Growth Summit really got the wheels spinning on how to associate a specific personal brand with my name. Yes, I am with RE/MAX, and they are a well-known larger brand I am associated with who help define my business goals and handle the legal aspects of the real estate business.

However, what I do everyday as a realtor – working closely with sellers, buyers, collaborators and other real estate consultants, is my own personal brand, is the core of my business.

ReBranding Project
Consider this: Solo-entrepreneurs are the heart, soul, and voice of their business, however, there will come a time when their business grows, or (heaven forbid) retirement comes along. There is a legacy that comes along with the business that I have built, invaluable data and assets that can be sold and appropriated to fit another real estate entrepreneur’s business model. The legacy of a business, the continuity of an exit strategy, the forethought that what I am building can be sold at sometime, that is a business and a marketable brand.

The Re-branding Project that I took on with Lori Crock and Gina Bericchia at Written Impact was a very enlightening project.

Before I had many different ideas, looks, and communication channels, but I found a memorable brand and a way to simplify my message to my audience. With the launch of my new website, I’m excited to introduce: Katie McCartney – Real Estate. Real Simple. The branding extends from the signature in my e-mail, to Facebook, Twitter background, blog, website, greeting cards, business card and more; I’d love to hear what you think of the new branding.

The core values, beliefs, and ideas are mine; however, they are transferable now thanks to the help of Written Impact. Having help creating an outer shell that identifies your business and values is so imperative to any solo-entrepreneur's business. It allows for freedom along with personal pride. Creating something greater than ourselves is what I think that all entrepreneurs strive for as an end goal. What about you?

Leave the Gimmicks to the Cereal Boxes

Home selling has changed drastically, but gimmicks are not selling homes.

Buyers today have access to more information about the market than ever before, so competitive pricing is the best way to attract attention, according to RIS Media’s Real Estate Incentives Out of Style Among Price-Focused Shoppers.

Competitive pricing is simply pricing the home to sell using the average sales data to help determine a competitive price–instead of setting a price with an incentive attached hoping that the buyer will bite.

With my clients, I have not seen incentives/gimmicks such as TVs, Furniture, Services etc. be a deciding factor in their home-buying decision. It is about price; is the home in the range they can afford or in a range they are willing to afford on their budget. How the space feels as they walk through is also a determining factor. If there is a seller incentive, it is more of a bonus than a deciding factor.

What sells a home is the intrinsic feel when a buyer goes through a home that captures their heart and the mind. I can tell when a buyer truly loves a house – they start talking about envisioning themselves living in the space and where they will put their furniture and decorative items.

Having great photos, great video, accurate information on the Multiple Listing System and the right pricing will draw the people into your property. Then someone will fall in love with your home for the right reasons. Leave the gimmicks to the cereal boxes.
